To the Cordillera People’s Alliance and our partner, Center for Development Programs in the Cordillera, Inc
April 24, 2021
On this 37th year of the Cordillera Day, we, Solidagro, extend our warmest greetings of solidarity to the Cordilllera people in another momentous celebration. Solidagro finds it an honor and a pleasure to be among the many international solidarity partners of the Cordillera people to commemorate the struggles of the Cordillera people for self-determination, inspired by the martyrdom of Ama Macliing Dulag.
Through three decades now, Solidagro, in partnership with CDPC and the Belgian Province of East Flanders, supports the food security and food sovereignty efforts of the Cordillera people through programs like irrigation, potable water, biofertilizer production, trainings and agroecology related-activities. Despite the challenges of covid-19 pandemic and the human rights situation, the Cordillera people stand firm in their resolve to pursue their political, economic, social and cultural development.
This year’s Cordillera Day theme, “live out the legacy of our heroes! Defend land, life and honor”, is indeed apt to pay tribute for all your sacrifices, victories, and aspirations for the defense of the ancestral land, and also to remind us all that we continue to strive despite all these challenges for a better future for our children. Solidagro will continue to be a partner in development through the agroecology approach that will further support the strengthening of organizations, and communities. We also regularly express our concern on the human rights situation, and specifically the shrinking space for civil society in the Philippines, such as the recent accusations and arrest of your chairperson Windel Bolinget, towards the Belgian and Philippine government.
In solidarity, we salute the Cordillera people, the CPA, and CDPC for carrying on the legacy of your heroes in defending land, life and honor. Long live! Mabuhay!
